Farid Abboud’s Loves His Country

January 30, 2017

It is undoubtedly true that Farid Abboud can point to a long and important career in service to his home country of Lebanon. And though he is best known as a diplomat, his experience goes far beyond his ambassadorships. Of course, his diplomatic career is impressive, having been one of the longest-serving Lebanese ambassadors to the United States in history, as well as being Lebanon’s Ambassador to Tunisia for a time and now, he is their ambassador to China.

There is a lot more. For a time, he also served as Lebanon’s assistant director-general of the Department of Political Affairs in the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and he was Lebanon's General Counsel in Los Angeles for a time back in the 1990s. The key to his long career may be his substantial education, however. While Farid Abboud has a Diploma of Higher Studies in Political Science from Beirut’s Université Saint-Joseph and a B.A. in Philosophy from France’s University of Lyon, he also earned a Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
